Problem: The ChemStation software revision A.04.02 will report a Syntax Error if you install a G2319A, Volatiles Interface (VI), AND you have GC ChemStation software revision A.04.02, AND the HP 6890 GC has firmware A2.14, AND you select Argon-Methane or Nitrogen from the software pull down. Temporary solution: Do not select Argon-Methane or Nitrogen from the chemstation software. You must select only Helium or Hydrogen which are recognised and supported by the HP 6890 GC. Problem: In revision A.05.01 the LVI (large Volume Injection) parameters are lost if the method is saved to disk and then re-loaded. This occurs if the user has a HP 6890 GC with a PTV and a G1512A/G1513A autoinjector and selects to inject x microliters y times. Temporary solution: Install the 7673 Update Utility for revision A.05.01 which fixes the problem. The instrument actual occasionally report "No mem" for the HP 1090. In some cases, a GPF has been reported: "HPCORE caused a GPF in module HPCP00.DLL at 001F:001A" --or--- "HPCORE caused a GPF in module KRNL386.EXE at 0001:62F" Temporary solution: The problem is caused by an uninitialized variable. Problem: It has been reported on three different sites that when there is a 5890 GC with an autosampler, and the GC is not ready when the sequence is started, that the GC does not start the first run after it goes ready. The software does sense the GC ready status. The status goes green, but the message waiting for GC ready, press start to override stays. Only happens with 5890 GCs, never with 6890, even on same system. Temporary solution: Workaround is to wait until the GC is ready before starting the sequence, OR click on override after the GC becomes ready to start the sequence. In both cases, all runs after the first run start successfully. Temporary solution: Use autointegrate to get a good set of parameters. To check the integration, use TRANSFORMOBJ CHROMREG[1], 1:2,(a+1):(a+2),YAXIS to move all Y values to positive values, were a is the largest negative value in the data file. Temporary solution: Do not use the feature "Save method with data". Use the "Save GLP data" feature to save the parameters during data acquisition in a read only binary register that can not be altered. Problem: With some data files, the HP ChemStation may cause the following error message when attempting to export them to AIA format: PXENGWIN.DLL Floating Point: Square Root of a negative number Cause: The error is generated when the integrator reports a symmetry value of 0 for a peak. The export code now handles this exception. Problem: 5890 / 7673 problem only. Pressing stop on the injector aborts the chemstation run correctly but leaves the chemstation in a not ready state. Once the user has pressed stop on the INJECTOR (only) to abort the injection cycle the chemstation stays in a not ready state until the next run is started and the not ready is overridden. Temporary solution: Do not use the STOP on the injector tower to abort a run. Use the ChemStation software instead. Setpoints are not downloaded to GC when OK is selected. Problem: 5890 GC with PCOC. . The ChemStation's Instrument -> Inlet Temperature screen does not update the 5890. When the rate, final temp, or final time parameters are changed and the OK button is selected, the parameters are not sent to 5890. The initial temp and initial time parameters on the same window appear to update the 5890 properly. Temporary solution: Download works correctly if initial time or temperature is also changed at the same time. Problem: Syntax error if the Chemstation sends a TCD flow of below 5 mL/min and the 6890 GC has a firmware revision of A.03.03 or greater. Cause: The old range was 0 to 100 mL/min and the new range is 5.0 to 100 mL/min The ChemStation does not support this change, so it will allow the user to enter a value out side the 6890 range. This will result in a HP6890 Syntax Error window appearing on the ChemStation Temporary solution: Workaround is not to enter a flow of less than 5 mL/min.
